About me

Traditionally Trained Kiltmaker

My name is Claire, and I am a traditionally trained kilt maker. I hand sew every kilt, using the highest quality materials, with an attention to detail that makes every kilt I produce a traditional work of art.

All bespoke kilts are made-to-measure, and I source the best tartan cloth from UK mills to ensure that my clients receive a kilt of the highest quality. My kilts are made to last, making every kilt an investment which can become family heirlooms for years to come.

Kiltmaking is listed as an 'endangered' skill by the charity "Heritage Crafts", meaning there is currently an insufficient number of traditionally trained craftspeople to transmit the skills of kilt making onto the next generation, and as such, there are serious concerns about the ongoing viability of the kilt making tradition.

By supporting local and traditionally trained kilt makers such as myself, you are helping support the ongoing viability of this ancient skilled craft, ensuring the skills and traditions will continue into the future.

You can find out more about endangered crafts, and how supporting endangered craftspeople such as kilt makers on the Heritage Crafts website.
